Burberry brings back NFTs for Mythical Games' Blankos Block Party

Burberry is further cementing its partnership with Mythical Games by dropping its second NFT collection on ’s Blankos Block Party, an open-world, multiplayer game, on June 22.
This initiative opens new spaces for its communities by creating a bespoke social space in the game to bring players together for a unique virtual experience.
Burberry's latest NFTs will feature a new unicorn avatar called ‘Minny B’. Following the Sharky B avatar from last year, Minny B is designed with a playful interpretation of Burberry’s TB Summer Monogram signature design. This includes the orange check and monogram and accessories like boom boxes, lucky horseshoe necklaces, TB sliders and a ‘shellphone’ mobile phone accessory which players can add to their virtual portfolio of online accessories. All these in-game items will be available for in-game purchase on June 22. According to Burbberry, ‘Minny B is a kind, gentle, and cheeky character that melds art and creativity to evoke a sense of limitless possibility.’ It’s equipped with a signature spiralled horn and a pair of white wings, ‘enhancing the character’s magical quality and allowing the Blanko to explore new spaces by flight’.
Burberry will also reward holders of the Sharky B avatar with free NFT Monogram bucket hat accessories.
In addition to releasing new NFT avatars and accessories, Burberry also created a bespoke virtual cabana style resort called ‘The Oasis’, where players meet one another, and explore the space together. The virtual experience features an array of beaches, which include branded sailboats and sun loungers inspired by the brand’s destination which was inspired by the brand’s physical TB Summer Monogram events held in Saint-Tropez, Korea, Singapore, and Ibiza.
‘The Metaverse provides limitless opportunities for us to flex our imagination and connect with our customers,’ said Rachel Waller, Burberry’s VP of Channel Innovation, in a press release. ‘Luxury is an industry built on fantasy and expression, so in many ways, gaming is a canvas perfectly suited to bringing these dreams to life.’
Burberry’s newest NFT is set to drop on June 22 at 12 p.m. ET on the brand’s website. The price of the collection has not been revealed yet but it can be expected to be similar to its first collection, exclusive and highly priced.
In 2021, all 750 of the Sharky B characters, priced at US$ 299.99 each were sold out within 30 seconds and later resold for more than its initial price. A total value of at least US$ 375,000 worth in 2,250 NFTs sold out in two minutes. The brand also dropped an unlimited number of accessories, starting at US$ 24.99, which were available for purchase for two weeks.
