Coinbase is creating a film trilogy starring Bore Ape Yacht Club NFT characters

The film aims to bolster community participation by allowing Bored Ape Yacht Club owners’ NFTs to feature in the films.

Crypto exchange Coinbase and popular NFT project Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) are working together on a three-part film series. The films will be created by Coinbase Entertainment and feature select BAYC characters crowdsourced from the app.

The first installment of the trilogy is titled “The Degen Trilogy'' and will premiere in June. Users will have to create a Coinbase wallet to view the films.


Coinbase confirmed the films on Twitter following its teaser tweet.

The report by Charlie Kolbrenner explains that Bored Ape house owners can submit their Bored Ape NFTs along with made-up character descriptions to the web portal, to be reviewed by Hollywood directors. If selected, these Bored Apes will be featured in the movie trilogy that includes the Apecoin project. The report further states that Coinbase is “celebrating and amplifying the BAYC community” via the film trilogy.

Yuga Labs CEO says the film trilogy is a ‘Breakthrough Project’ for NFTs


Yuga Labs CEO Nicole Muniz, The company that created BAYC said that the film is a breakthrough first step for NFTs and leisure.

“We are seeing how the NFT Network continues to evolve as a vehicle of access and participation in games, merchandise and now interactive entertainment,” Muniz explained during the announcement on Monday. This is a successful project and we are excited to see how it shapes the future of Web3 for all communities,” said Yuga Labs CEO.
