Cristiano Ronaldo scores Binance NFT Partnership

Portuguese soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has entered into a multi-year joint marketing agreement with leading crypto exchange Binance to 'take football to the next level’.
Through the partnership, Binance will launch global NFT campaigns that aim to introduce Ronaldo's fans to Web3 along with a compelling entry point into the world of NFTs.
Over the course of the agreement, Cristiano Ronaldo and Binance will create a series of collections for sale exclusively for the Binance NFT platform. The debut collection will be released later this year and will feature designs curated with Ronaldo. In addition, Binance users in select countries can purchase NFTs of the football legend who owns five golden balls via Binance Pay, a peer-to-peer (P2P) cryptocurrency payment app.
Ronaldo, who is reputed to be one of the best soccer players of all time, said that the NFTs will allow him to bring ‘unprecedented experiences’ to his fans and connect with them in novel ways.
‘My relationship with the fans is very important to me, so the idea of bringing unprecedented experiences and access through this NFT platform is something that I wanted to be a part of,’ said Ronaldo. ‘I know the fans are going to enjoy the collection as much as I do.’
CEO and founder of Binance, Changpeng Zhao, praised Ronaldo's accomplishments in soccer and noted that the soccer player has ‘transcended sport to become an icon in multiple industries.’ Zhao added that Binance is ‘thrilled to provide his fans with exclusive engagement opportunities to connect with Ronaldo and own a piece of iconic sports history.’
On June 2, Binance announced its sponsorship of musician The Weeknd's ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ tour that begins on July 8, 2022, marking the first global concert tour to integrate Web3 technology for an enhanced fan experience. The sponsorship will also see Binance donate a US$ 2million fund to The Weeknd’s XO Humanitarian Fund under the UN World Food Program.
