DC Comics announces NFT collectible comics launch

The first NFT DC comic collectible, Superman #1, will be available on Oct. 27 in 3,000 minted editions.

DC Comics has announced a series of NFT offerings called DC Collectibles Comics (DC3), and that it will allow fans to buy DC Comics weekly.

The first NFT, Superman #1 by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, will be released in two formats, Modern and Legacy. Other DC Collectible Comics will come in varying levels of ‘rarities’ which will correspond to different covers for the issue, including Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic or Legendary.

 Superman #1 will be the first DC collectible to be sold on nft.dcuniverse.com on October 27 for $9.99.The first drop will be limited to 3,000 minted editions.

Legacy versions of the NFT comics represent comics that have been out of print for years, and feature a worn look while modern versions will be in a newer and more pristine edition to highlight the recent releases from DC’s treasured line-up.  

Upcoming DC Collectible releases will include Black Adam #1 by Christopher Priest & Rafa Sandoval and others. 

 

‘We want to take the physical, real world experience of collecting comics that so many of our readers have loved over the years and expand that into a new digital community,’ said DC Senior Vice President and General Manager Anne DePies.

 

‘We want to build that community aspect that everyone has been so proud to be a part of, in our digital ecosystem to make comic collecting more available and accessible than ever before,’ she added.
