FIFA and Algorand to launch NFT football platform

FIFA+ Collect aims to provide NFT collectibles that are ‘cheap, inclusive, and accessible to all football fans.’

The International Federation of Association Football  (FIFA), the global governing body of soccer, announced that it is preparing for the launch of an NFT platform ahead of the highly anticipated World Cup. 

 

The NFT platform, ‘FIFA+ Collect’ was created as part of a sponsorship and technical partnership with proof-of-stake blockchain platform Algorand in May this year. It will be launched on FIFA+ Collect will be launched on FIFA+ and will be powered by the Algorand blockchain in September 2022.

The NFT platform will offer football fans around the world a chance to own memorable moments from football matches as well as art and imagery from the FIFA World Cup and FIFA Women’s World Cup.

 

The platform aims to make FIFA collectibles offerings to any football fan and the opportunity for them to interact and engage with their favourite players and football moments across platforms. This will help in ‘democratizing the ability to own a part of the FIFA World Cup,’ said FIFA Chief Business Officer Romy Gai.
