Blockchain company, GigLabs just launched a new app that allows Shopify merchants to mint and sell NFTs on their Shopify storefront. The GigLabs NFT App is meant to make NFTs as accessible as possible, as the whole setup can be done in a few clicks without prior blockchain or development experience.

A press release by GigLabs revealed that the GigLabs NFT App is hosted on the Flow blockchain, meaning it is where all the minting and sale of the NFTs would take place.

“The next evolution for eCommerce is NFTs, and the GigLabs NFT App in the Shopify App Store allows select businesses to quickly and easily offer NFTs to their consumers,” said GigLabs Chief Product Officer and co-founder Brian Burns.

Robleh Jama, Director of Product for Shopify, was also excited about the development; “Our growing NFT app ecosystem demonstrates our commitment to offering merchants an accessible approach to selling digital assets directly through their Shopify stores,” he said. “We’re happy to welcome GigLabs to the Shopify NFT ecosystem to help merchants build unique commerce experiences through NFTs.”

The GigLabs NFT App already has early users in BreakingT and Infinite Objects, who have already used it to create a new source of income. Both companies were also involved in the development of the app with GigLabs.

BreakingT is a sports gear company that helps fans immortalize favourite athletes or sports moments on clothing and other products. They claim they have been able to use the GigLabs NFT App to quickly turn those favoured moments into NFTs and reach a wider audience.

On the other hand, Infinite Objects is a company that prints and frames video loops. The company revealed that it would be able to “add NFTs to its content offerings in a seamless end-to-end and customized experience.”

Perhaps, most peculiar is the fact that the GigLabs NFT App uses the Flow blockchain rather than Ethereum – which is where most NFTs are registered. Flow blockchain was developed by Dapper Labs, which also created the CryptoKitties NFTs. It is one of today’s fastest-growing blockchains and is gradually rivalling Ethereum as the preferred choice for NFTs. This is because it uses a Proof-of-Stake system which is significantly more energy-efficient than Proof-of-Work systems like Ethereum and Bitcoin.

GigLabs NFT App is currently exclusive to Shopify Plus members, and those interested in adding it to their account would have to contact GigLabs.
