Google announced it will launch a cloud-based node engine for Ethereum projects on Oct. 27.

The Google Cloud Blockchain Node Engine will be a fully-managed node-hosting service for web3 development that allows developers to build and deploy new products on blockchain-based platforms.

Google will oversee node activity and maintain their nodes. It will also restart them in the event of an outage.

Ethereum will be the first blockchain to be supported by Blockchain Node Engine.

Blockchain Node Engine streamlines the process of deploying a node by allowing developers to deploy any new node with a single operation, and specify the optimal region and network (mainnet or testnet).

The new engine also offers enhanced security to prevent unauthorized access to nodes by installing a Virtual Private Cloud firewall behind the nodes so that only trusted machines and users are able to communicate with client endpoints.

Another security feature includes Google’s Cloud Armor, which is designed to prevent nodes from denial-of-service (DDos) attacks that spam and slow down the network.
