Jack Daniel’s files for Web3 trademarks

The internationally renowned whisky brand becomes the latest to join the world of crypto and NFTs.

Global whisky brand Jack Daniels filed three trademark applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office  (USPTO) on September 13, becoming the latest brand to signal their interest in providing their services in the Metaverse. 

 

The whisky brand’s applications show that it intends to sell NFT-authenticated media, virtual beverages, barware, clothing, digital wallets, and collectibles in the Metaverse. 

 

The filing also shows Jack Daniel’s plans to offer downloadable computer software to spread information in the field of beverages and clothing.

 

The announcement was made via Twitter by licensed trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis.

 

Jack Daniel’s entry in the Metaverse follows that of other major beverage brands. 

 

On September 9, 2022, Johnny Walker, which released its latest NFT phygital collection to offer fans limited-edition whisky bottles crafted using irreplaceable ‘ghost’ whiskies and other rare expressions from the Johnnie Walker reserves. 

 

On April 15 2022, Absolut Vodka launched a Coachella-themed virtual experience in the Decentraland Metaverse.

Both Coachella’s IRL participants and virtual attendees had the opportunity to explore innovative experiences inspired by Absolut's products, heritage and passion points. They were also able to win NFT prizes and learn about the brand’s heritage through interactive galleries in the Metaverse.
