On Wednesday, legendary jazz band Jamiroquai announced a partnership with The Sandbox to ‘get funky in the Metaverse’. Jamiroquai plans to bring ‘virtual insanity’ to the band’s virtual land located in The Sandbox’s Metaverse gaming platform.

The strategic partnership was formed in association with Bravado, Universal Music Group’s brand management division.

The Sandbox is a leading decentralized virtual world or Metaverse platform where users can create immersive 3D worlds, acquire virtual lands and real estates. It is also a place where they can connect, trade and monetize their creations.

Jamiroquai is the latest entity to join more than 200 of The Sandbox’s partners, including Ubisoft, Rabbids, Gucci Vault, The Walking Dead, Snoop Dogg, Adidas, The Smurfs, Care Bears, Atari, ZEPE, BLOND:ISH, Deadmau5 and CryptoKitties.

Jamiroquai is an award-winning London band led by Jay Kay and best known for smash hits like ‘Virtual Insanity’ and 'Canned Heat’. The former was crowned MTV’s video of the year in 1997 and rewarded with a Grammy Award. The band has sold more than 27 million albums worldwide.

The Sandbox and Jamiroquai plan on celebrating the partnership on May 18 and launch Jamiroquai x Sandbox merchandise. The merchandise will be a limited-edition T-shirt and keyrings, which will be available exclusively on store.jamiroquai.com.

‘Jamiroquai has always been future facing and super social – creating a LAND where everyone can come together in The Sandbox with a bit of funk, freedom, and fashion will provide a communal place to digitally connect with our fans and fellow music lovers. We look forward to telling you more soon, but for now I can say that hats will definitely be involved.’ the British jazz band said in a statement.
