Macy’s launches Thanksgiving Day parade in the Metaverse

US retail brand Macy’s has announced the launch of its Thanksgiving Day parade on the OnCyber Metaverse platform, according to a Nov. 21 press release.
Macy’s is also launching five NFT projects at the event, including Boss Beauties, Cool Cats, Gmoney, SupDucks, and VeeFriends. Fans can explore the virtual galleries and vote on their favourite creators to be featured on the IRL Macy's Parade balloon for the 2023 holiday.
During the voting period, additional votes will be given to NFT collectors who choose to mint and to holders of Macy’s 2021 Parade NFTs. The first 100,000 fans who vote will receive a free Macy’s digital collectible.
The Metaverse experience will begin today, Nov. 24 at 9 a.m. EST through Sunday, December 4 at 11:59 p.m. EST in OnCyber Metaverse and can be accessed via desktop and mobile on macys.com/nft.
Additionally, a virtual gallery pass for an OnCyber NFT gallery space mint will be airdropped on Dec. 5. Each virtual gallery pass will cost US$50 to mint with all proceeds from the to raise funds for the non-profit organization Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA), a non-profit that empowers and supports young people to achieve post-secondary success through mentoring experiences.
‘As we countdown to the 96th Macy’s Parade, we are excited to bring this spectacle once again to the web3 virtual landscape with a fun experience that empowers our fans, collectors and our highly engaged Discord community. Our genesis collection of Parade NFTs last year was so successful that we wanted our digital community to select a native NFT design to be transformed into a real-world Macy’s Parade balloon,’ said executive producer of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Will Coss.
