Manchester United announced it is gifting ‘Club history NFTs to fans in partnership with Tezos blockchain in a Nov. 14 press release.

Club history are sports memorabilia NFTs and part of Manchester United’s first official NFT collection. Holders will get to own a piece of the club’s history, access fan experiences and participate in other future NFT drops available for purchase throughout the season.

Future drops will be priced at £30 with 20% of proceeds going to Manchester United Foundation.

As holders of Manchester United’s debut NFTs, they can unlock access to the club’s official Discord, where they can contribute ideas for future digital collectibles and share matchdays together in the fan-led and community driven space.

The club aims to consult fans closely for their take on how to shape the virtual world and provide ‘the option of unique and enhanced engagement opportunities’ to fans, according to Manchester United’s CEO of Digital Products and Experiences, Phil Lynch.

Just yesterday, Cristiano Ronaldo announced the launch of his first NFT collection, ‘CR7’, with Binance.

In March, Ronaldo’s rival, Lionel Messi signed a $20 million deal with Socios to become the company’s Global Ambassador and partnered with crypto exchange Bitget to promote the firm and introduce the benefits of Web3 to his global soccer fanbase.
