Global toy brand Mattel has launched its own NFT marketplace on Mattel Creations, the company’s collector and direct-to-consumer platform, according to a Nov. 21 press release.

Powered by the Flow blockchain, the Mattel Creations Digital Collectibles Marketplace is designed to support consumer-scale decentralized applications catering to mainstream audiences.

Consumers will not be required to own cryptocurrency to purchase on the marketplace and a peer-to-peer platform will be integrated to allow collectors to trade their digital collectibles amongst themselves in early 2023.

Hot Wheels Garage NFT holders on the WAX blockchain will also be able to transfer their NFTs to the Flow blockchain in early 2023.

On Dec. 15, 2022, the first launch will take place on the Mattel Creations Digital Collectibles Marketplace: Series 4 of the Hot Wheels NFT Garage, which features 60 cars from McLaren, Chevrolet, Honda, Aston Martin, Oldsmobile, Pagani, and Cadillac, as well as many Hot Wheels originals. Each artwork is priced at US$25 and customers can purchase up to eight packs per transaction.

‘In launching our own marketplace, we’re able to translate iconic Mattel IP into digital art. This is the latest evolution of our digital endeavors, and we look forward to sharing more drops soon inspired by some of the world’s favorite Mattel brands,’ said Ron Friedman, Vice President of the Mattel Future Lab.
