PUBG creator Brendan Greene announced plans to pivot to the Metaverse with the launch of a game powered by blockchain, NFTs, and the Metaverse that he says will be ‘made for everyone’ in an interview with Hit Points on Sept. 27.

The game, Artemis, will allow players to create, play and monetize experiences in the Earth-sized virtual and open world environment.

Greene says that a digital world must ‘have an economy, and it has to have systems at work.’

He went on to say, ‘The only way this exists is if it’s made for everyone, and it’s not made for money.’

He said as players will be able to sell in-game assets to other players, the main focus is to create an open-source digital world for players. ’It's for everyone, right? It shouldn't ultimately be controlled by us. It'll be a platform that we participate in the maintenance of, maybe, but it's something that anyone can plug into, and everyone can host a bit of themselves,’ he explained.

A launch date for Artemis has yet to be revealed.
