Starbucks introduces its block-chain based loyalty platform and NFT community, Starbucks Odyssey

Starbucks officially announced its entry into Web3 with its new Polygon-based loyalty platform and NFT community, Starbucks Odyssey today.
The new Starbucks Odyssey, scheduled to launch later this year, will be an extension of Starbucks Rewards with an NFT platform to allow customers to earn and purchase Odyssey NFT stamps to unlock perks and ‘immersive coffee experiences’ with points based on the rarity of each stamp.
Starting today, customers can join the waitlist for a chance to become the first to receive access to the Starbucks Odyssey experience.
To develop the experience, Starbucks partnered with Adam Brotman, the architect of its Mobile Order & Pay system and the Starbucks app, to act as a special advisor. Now the co-founder of Forum3, a web3 loyalty startup, Brotman’s team worked on Starbucks Odyssey with the Seattle coffee chain’s marketing, loyalty and technology teams.
The Odyssey experience is also being built in partnership with Polygon, a proof-of-stake blockchain platform that enables users to launch their own decentralized applications (Dapps). Starbucks and Polygon’s shared vision for carbon-neutrality and sustainability combined with Polygon’s fast and low-cost network are fundamental to the project.
Sandeep Nailwal, co-Founder of Polygon, remarked, ‘Polygon is a natural choice for Starbucks as both companies place tremendous importance on diversity, accessibility, and sustainability. As a leading infrastructure provider enabling people and technology to collaborate and exchange value globally and freely, Polygon provides the ideal launchpad for Starbucks’ entry into Web3.’
