The Sandbox Metaverse unveils first-ever pop-up in Hong Kong

The Sandbox has decided to expand its presence in the real world with its first-ever pop-up presence in Hong Kong to support the continuing growth of its user base in the city.
The pop-up, dubbed ‘The Sandbox Alpha 3 Atelier’ will feature a variety of new experiences from local in-depth sharing sessions about the Metaverse, and creative video content.
During an extended period this summer, visitors to The Sandbox Alpha 3 Atelier who register an account in The Sandbox will be rewarded through regular promotions of 1,000 $SAND tokens. Participants will have a chance to win a 1x1 The Sandbox land parcel and an NFT house created by our metaverse studio as their future home in the Metaverse.
The co-founder and chief operating officer of The Sandbox, Sebastien Borget, spoke of the initiative, stating that, ‘With the release of The Sandbox Alpha 3 Atelier, we are excited to welcome even more users in Hong Kong to explore a truly open metaverse and try out new activities.’
To give every visitor the opportunity to build their dream in the Metaverse, The Sandbox has partnered with a wide range of partners to create new ways for players to ‘make avatars, which are their own digital identities, and get more involved.’
The avatars will also enable users to ‘interact more extensively’ in the Metaverse, according to Borget.
Local design studios including Index Game, Pangu by Kenal, Metalympics, and UFO School will be hosting workshops at the pop-up for a range of audiences, from school children, university students, adults, and the staff of leading corporate enterprises.
Top educational institutions including The University of Hong Kong; City University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, NFT Association of Hong Kong, Rotary Club of Elite Orient, and numerous schools and others are also participating in the programme.
Companies, educational institutions, and other entities will participate in the pop-up. Some of the bigger names are The University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong, NFT Association of Hong Kong, and the Rotary Club of Elite Orient.
In May, telecommunications companies PCCW and HKT partnered with The Sandbox to buy a Hong Kong inspired virtual land parcel in Mega City and to join the Metaverse. After acquiring the land, the companies are set to launch the world’s first virtual 5G mobile network and transform traditional film, TV and music content into a new form of entertainment accessible via Web3.
PCCW and HKT also agreed to develop more cutting-edge financial, healthcare, and eCommerce solutions to develop an interesting virtual ‘Metacommunity' that will bring a brand new way for 5G users to enjoy Web3 entertainment.
