Event ticketing leader Ticketmaster announced a partnership with blockchain firm Dapper Labs, such that it will adopt their Flow blockchain for minting tickets as NFTs.

The NFTs will serve as ‘proof of attendance’ and a shareable form of digital memorabilia collectible. Through the new partnership, Ticketmaster also built a digital wallet and NFT marketplace to feature on its website. NFT holders will be able to view and trade their NFTs on the site.

‘Event organizers who choose to offer fans an NFT with their ticket have a real opportunity to make this new technology relevant and relatable at scale. This is why we are partnering with Flow, because their blockchain is custom-built for fan engagement and frictionless consumer experiences,’ Brendan Lynch, Ticketmaster EVP of Enterprise & Revenue, said in a statement.

In the past six months, Ticketmaster and Dapper Labs launched an NFT pilot program during which Ticketmaster issued NFT tickets to attendees of events such as the Super Bowl LVI this year.

During the pilot program, Ticketmaster has already minted more than 5 million NFTs for event organizers on the Flow blockchain. They also used Flow to distribute 70,000 one-of-one virtual commemorative ticket NFTs at Super Bowl LVI that featured attendees’ unique seat location. For the upcoming 2022 season, the NFL will award NFTs to every attendee at more than 100 select games, including at least three home games from all 32 clubs.
