Brand new Web3 FitFi (Fitness Finance) platform Step App has partnered with eight-time Olympic gold medalist and 11-time World Champion Usain Bolt as it officially launches its private beta for a gamified fitness Metaverse.

Bolt will serve as a core ambassador for Step App, where he will assist with the platform’s onboarding process and expand its premium partners and governmental organizations.

Commenting on the partnership, the legendary athlete said fitness has always been a part of his life. ‘When I learned what the team at Step App were building, I was instantly inspired and wanted to be part of this incredibly important global movement. I've said in the past that we need to aspire to inspire, and through Step App, I would love to inspire as many people as possible to live a healthier and happier life. We are just getting started!’ he added.

FitFi is Web3 latest trend and integrates the move-to-earn (M2E) model, which rewards users with cryptocurrencies in the form of their native token KCAL for exercising, from walking your dog, jogging in the park to running in the real world. Users can also join competitions to win prizes. This is the platform’s way to ‘encourage consumers to earn and exercise toward economic freedom’.

With more than 20 million users signed up for the waitlist to access the platform, Step App revealed it had generated US$ 122.5 million in profits from platform fees during Q1, 2022.

Built on the Layer 1 proof-of-stake blockchain Avalanche, Step App is the first product on the Step Blockchain to investigate the possibility of onboarding masses to the FitFi ecosystem. The Step Blockchain also offers The Step Protocol software development kit (SDK) which can be used by third-party Web3 developers to launch their own products within the Step Metaverse.

Step App also announced its platform’s ‘ready-to-deploy geo-location technology, NFT minting, trading functions, user onramp, and token mechanics as necessary features’ that can ‘be deployed in a snap by any developer, team or global brand’ to create a Web3 FitFi app.

Step App’s mission is to ‘transform every exercise activity…into social activities and/or competitions with other users throughout the community, encouraging users to earn as they exercise towards economic freedom.’

‘Our mandate is to inspire people to exercise daily so they feel better physically and mentally, and we feel we will achieve this by incentivizing their exercise by paying them in crypto,’ said Kirill Volgin, CEO of Step App.

The company also said the app will introduce pre-registered users to ‘SNEAKs,’ one of the brand’s digital footwear that users will be able to buy, trade and wear digitally in the Step Metaverse.
