airBaltic announced it is using NFT technology to enhance its loyalty program air-Baltic Club with the launch of a new NFT collection.

The NFT collection, tilted Planies, features 10,000 NFTs each with a unique cartoon artwork of an airplane with varying traits such as mouth, eyes, wings, engines. Planies NFT holders will have commercial rights to the art of their cartoon airplane and tie them directly to the loyalty program, which will grant them airBaltic Club points and other benefits, even if traveling occasionally.

The NFTs will go on sale on a dedicated website www.planiesnft.com and available for secondary trading on OpenSea.

Martin Gauss, President and CEO of airBaltic said, ‘We have seen a high interest in our initial NFTs, the airBaltic City Collection, and now we are taking the next step. By providing additional benefits like frequent flyer points or certain vouchers, we provide an added value to collectors. It is the first step towards preparing our loyalty program for crypto tokenization in the future.’
