The Sandbox licences index game to create content for its Metaverse

Since Facebook popularized the idea of the Metaverse, many of the world’s brands have been trying to carve a piece of this virtual world for themselves. This is clearly evident for the gaming industry, which is currently the trailblazer into this immersive digital territory. Games like Star Atlas, Illuvium, and most notably the Sandbox have been running their unique Metaverses.
Recently, a popular Metaverse game, The Sandbox, licensed Index Game to produce content for its Metaverse. Index game is a Hong Kong-based gaming studio and would be the first company from the region to enjoy such privilege from The Sandbox.
Index Game’s Plan for The Sandbox Metaverse
Index Game plans to release its first NFT game on The Sandbox within the first quarter of next year. The game would also feature the Kowloon Walled City and its quirks as its setting.
The iconic Hong Kong city was once termed the most densely populated place on Earth before being demolished. Its inclusion in The Sandbox would hopefully promote Hong Kong culture to the denizens of the Metaverse.
The game would also feature legendary Chinese characters like Ne Zha, Guan Gong, Lin Zhengying and more scattered across its location.
Many details remain unknown about the game, but it was promised that gameplay and other content would be revealed early next year.
About The Sandbox
The Sandbox is a virtual Metaverse where players can play, build, own, and monetize their virtual experiences. Stylishly similar to Minecraft, it is a sandbox game where players can explore and interact with the environment and other players.
Although the game is yet to be fully released, it is currently attracting brands to invest, and plots of its virtual land are getting snapped up by these companies at increasing prices.
The game is currently in the Alpha stage till December 20 and is only available for Windows at the moment.
About Index Game
The Hong Kong gaming studio was founded by Becky Wong and Joe Lau – two individuals who previously had careers in advertising.
Within three months of establishment, it built a team of 15 creators, which is still growing to meet current demands.
Index games would be joining The Sandbox’s growing list of partners with brands like Atari, Snoop Dogg, Adidas, Deadmau5 and many more.
