Warner Bros. plans The Matrix Resurrections NFT project

The Matrix universe is expanding to the blockchain.
Ahead of the latest release of ‘The Matrix Resurrections’ Hollywood studio Warner Bros. will release a series of non-fungible tokens inspired by The Matrix franchise in partnership with social NFT platform Nifty’s.
Nifty’s said it will create 100,000 avatars and sell them for US$50 each starting 30 November.
The Matrix project will take its cues from some of the NFT “avatar” art projects that have been launched by the likes of CryptoPunks and Bored Ape Yacht Club, where buyers purchase unique avatars from those worlds.
The avatars will represent characters living in the Matrix.
On 16 December buyers will be able to choose to take a “Blue Pill,” which will keep their avatar in the Matrix, or a “Red Pill,” which will transform it into a resistance fighter.
In coming months there will be other challenges and options, letting users upgrade their avatars, or earn new NFTs.
The Matrix Resurrections’ NFT project is the latest in a series of efforts by traditional Hollywood power players to break into the non-fungible token space.
